Christopher, I'm going to assume you haven't looked at rc.conf for this
yet. Looking through the file it appears around line 208 that you'll
find mention of DHCPDOPTS.

If you comment out DHCPDOPTS or set it to DHCPDOPTS="" then the dhcpd
script in /etc/init.d will not run and you won't have a DHCP server
running on your astlinux box.

Of course be sure to save your changes.

Ok I went into the rc.conf and found I had the DHCPOPTS line commented out, 
so I uncommented it and put ="" in it.. still the same deal.. next I found 
that what is really running is a program called dnsmasq that is acting as 
the DHCP server here. evidentilly its automatically invoked if I dont use 
DHCPD and if I have my INTIF value defined.. if I manually kill the process 
for dnsmasq then of course the DHCP agent is gone until of course I reboot 
my astlinux machine.. which granted isnt very often but id like to find a 
way to do away with dnsmasq and keep my INTIF active...
