Is it a USB type or an IDE type? If USB then unless your BIOS supports USB booting you're SOL.
Try an IDE<>CF adapter (about $15 on ebay) and put it in place of your primary IDE drive. I'm assuming of course that you'ver correctly made the CF image appear onto the CF in the first place?
