Title: x96_64 linking problem

Hello all,

I am currently trying to build ast-linux to run on an dual processor dual core opteron box with 4 gigs of ram. We choose astlinux for this as we needed a version of linux that will boot off a non-mechanical media (lowering the probablity of failure) and astlinux is just the thing. I am using the new development enviroment as I was having far more problems with the old one than I am currently having with the new (I will deal with the no grub issue when the time comes).

The problem I am currently having is when gcc is being compiled into the final version (currently gcc-4.0.2-final I have tried the others and still get the same error) ld errors out saying "skipping incompatible astlinux-devel/build_x86_64/staging_dir/lib/libc.so.0" then fails to link the file in (probably as it was skipped). I am using the astlinux.config file from in the root directory with the processor arch changed to x86_64, the latest kernel (2.6.16.1), gcc 4.0.2 and the uClibc snapshop, plus a few random apps as that are needed by our project.

Has anyone gotten astlinux running on opterons before?

Well anyways any help anyone can give on this will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
Michael Cargile
