As long as you have room.  Do you want to do away with /mnt/opt?

Why not put zoneinfo into /mnt/opt or increase your base partition to  
+64M, maybe that is the best.  Then you would have plenty room for  
extras and then make /mnt/kd the 2'nd partition.

No, we need this extra variable, Kristian.

Without TZ set, the UNIX date and logs don't work properly.
