Erm ... Actually it's a 486. But who's counting?

I wonder if there's any way to recover a second serial port on one of
these? 

I know it's off topic but I'm trying to source a really cheap low power
computer for use in a ham radio data networking project and so far this
looks like the one. 

We need the second serial port to drive a TNC (radio modem). Our idea is
to install a few of these setups around NYC and have them all linked via
the net as well as on 220MHZ. This way if the 'net goes out at one
location the 220MHz will still be there to haul info.

This will be for things like emergency management or Red Cross shelters.
Sure, it's low speed (1200bd typically) but still much faster than
reading lists of displaced peoples over the radio.
