Nedi:

I am no expert on this stuff and am struggling with my own issues related to the firewall config in Astlinux.  It will not insult me in the least if someone more knowledable than I steps up and gives you a better answer to your problem.  But I think I might know what is going on here and will attempt to give you some suggestions.

Item 1)  your registration with DynDNS should be performed by your router (192.168.1.1) not your Astlinux machine.  I suspect this is what you are doing but not want to overlook the obvious.

Item 2)  you indicate that your AstLinux box is assigned as your SOHO router's DMZ host.  This normally works a lot better than trying to do port forwarding so if this is indeed the case, you did the right thing here.  If not, you need to make sure to configure your SOHO router so that your AstLinux machine's private IP address is indeed assigned as the DMZ machine.  Again, dont want to overlook the obvious.

Item 3)  from another machine, try to ping your DynDNS server name ("ping my-server.dyndns.org").  If you get a response, you know your registration with DynDNS is working ok.  If not, your problem is with your router and the way it is logging on to DynDNS.  Fix this first before going any further.

Item 4)  there are settings in SIP.CONF that are intended as NAT helpers.  Settings like "localnet=192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0" and "externip=my-server.dyndns.org" and "externhost=my-server.dyndns.org".  These are passed by Asterisk to the VoIP provider during registration so the VoIP provider can find you to ring your DID number.  Suggest you take a hard look at some of the articles related to Asterisk and NAT located on www.voip-info.org to get some clues on these settings.

Item 5) you might have set "canreinvite=yes" as a default or maybe for your phone.  The problem with this is that the phone will attempt to bypass Asterisk and perform a "peer to peer" conversation with the remote party.  If not for the issues of NAT being in the way, this would normally work fine but in most SOHO installs with NAT active, you need help from Asterisk to maintain the session.  Make sure you have your phone's SIP.CONF entry set to "canreinvite=no" so Asterisk will stay in the loop.

Hope this helps you figure out what your problem is.

Good luck with it.
