Replying to part of my own post . . . .
I just found /etc/astlinux-release !

I still think it would be nice to see what version you were about to install -
or did I miss that message as well ;-)

Thanks!

Kristian,

I think it's good to know what AstLinux version you're going to flash a CF with.
The same applies when booting the cdrom on a PC to flash hda - it would be nice
if "one" saw the version number somewhere at the beginning of the process.

Anyway, this isn't my area but a quick google ("Windows autorun" freeware) took
me here:
http://www.programurl.com/software/autorun.htm

and of the freeware the only one with lots of stars is:
http://www.labour-saving.com/cdrun/cdrun.html

and it seems a ridiculously small download file.

I looks like a bit of a change to the current opening window.
But it's freeware - Might be worth a try. . . .

By the way how can I find out which version of AstLinux I have installed other
than firing up the http 'admin' page.

While I'm doing the "by the way"s . . .
Is the iso on SF really 0.4.3 or 0.4.3a?
And, sorry to keep on about this, if I astup how do I find out what version I'm
running afterwards.

All the Best,

-Graham S. Jarvis-

Graham,

This is true.

Unfortunately, the program that I use for Windows autorun support is
commercially licensed. The binary that they provide generates that
config file. If you change any of the parameters in that file, it
requires you to regenerate the checksum. I don't really have a windows
machine available when I generate the releases, so I can't run the binary...

When I change it, I am going to make it say "Welcome to AstLinux" so I
don't ever have to update it!
