I have noted that there is an option to install something
related to Postgress in the build environment ... I have not experimented with
this so do not really know what it might be capable of
... I think the best thing the developers could do for us would
be to integrate an ODBC driver ... the database service would need to be run on
a separate machine ... as far as I can tell, right now there is no ODBC in
Astlinux that would permit you to make use of a MySQL or other database server
... however, I don't think that getting ODBC into Astlinux would be that
tough ... so this might be viewed as a reasonable "feature request" ...
If you are looking for a system that includes MySQL,
Asterisk and other functionality, you might want to take a look at Selintra/Sail
in combination with with the SME server distro of Linux ... it is quite robust
and even has a web gui to make configuration easy ... The Asterisk
integration is not aware of MySQL out of the box so you would
have to make the correct modifications to it to get Asterisk and MySQL talking
... but all the basic pieces of the puzzle are there ... see http://www.contribs.org for more info

However, this is more traditional implementation that you
should not expect to run on an embedded system ... the trade off to get
this functionality is that you will need a more conventional hardware
platform including a decent sized hard drive ... this type of setup
would not lend itself to the network appliance style simplicity that Astlinux is
shooting for ... they are very different animals ...
