Rich,
For New York, you rc.conf should contain...
##Timezone
TIMEZONE=America/New_York
TZ_TIMEZONE=EST5EDT,M3.2.0/2,M11.1.0/2
The DST settings are for 2007, which are valid now.
Lonnie
PS: Note the '_' in the New_York

How do I set all the parts so all times and commands using time use
the same time and NOT UTC time.
system: astlinux
zone eastern
daylight: lst sun Mar to lst sun Oct
I have America/NewYork in TIMEZONE_TZ
There is a TZ directory
typing "date" at linux prompts shows my current time but says EDT.
Today is Nov 16 and it is now EST.
Using the GoToIf() condition seems to compare to UTC time not
Eastern time.
I've googled lists.kriscompanies.org and followed all the advice
for setting up time/ timezones. Seems I only got a partial fix
after all.
I desire a summary of how to take astlinux (bare) to have settings
for Eastern time zone and no operations to find UTC.
Thanks, Rich
