Jonathan,

As a note to others, this problem only exists on trunk.  None of the 
released images would have this issue.

This will be a problem moving forward with runnix images.  The images 
are not writable so areas such as the passwd file and .htpasswd would 
not survive a reboot.  This is something we need to clear up.  In the 
short term, we'll probably create some symbolic links (it's a security 
risk in my opinion to have Astlinux boxes that reset the password to 
defaults on reboot).

Kris, have any ideas on this one?  I know in the past you were against 
symbolically linking /etc/passwd, /etc/group ... but perhaps that's a 
good short term work around until we get the stuff with unionfs worked out.
