I had checked the /var/log/asterisk/ directory - no log file was created so no 
help there... 
Is it the case that you need to recompile zaptel if you are going to use the 
hardware?  (Not sure, because the /etc/wanpipe directory is alredy there...) 
That makes sense considering running WANCFG creates the w1g1 interface and the 
wanpipe1.conf sucessfully but a dead asterisk - I look to zaptel for problems 
first...  Excuse my ignorance, but how do I recompile zaptel in this case?
