Good comment, defiantly a debatable subject. Personally I like the flexibility of regular expressions and the way they solve problems in the telephony space (especially number normalisation in large complex voice networks). Products such OCS Enterprise Voice, Cisco Call manager, NEC Sphere, Dialogic and many other telephony vendors now use regular expressions as a core number normalization feature. Deploying or administering these products now require some basic regular expression knowledge >From a deployment perspective, I personally would hate to see this feature go >in favour for a NXXXX format My two cents worth. Regex's are fine for people with a lot of *nix scripting experience, but might not be as friendly as the standard Asterisk pattern format (XXX|XXXXXXX|XXXXXXXXXX...) -Philip ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
