I had this problem from my first attempt on HP thin clients using the iso.
The curious thing, to me at least, was that it was able to read and boot from the CD, but somewhere along in the process it could no longer read the CD, got impatient I suppose, and simply gave up complaining it couldn't understand the CD format.
Solutions presented to solve this can't be used of course with the CD.
It would be nice of much of the beginning install and boot process were not so quick that error messages wiz by, but that seems to be the way of the ( Linux ) world, at least. Not being very very savvy, I simply booted the machine with Damn Small Linux, who's iso doesn't suffer from this problem and did installs from there to the flash.

Using build 1907 (and I've seen it on earlier builds, but haven't needed this till now).

When booting from a USB connected DVD/CD drive, the boot process doesn't wait long enough for the drive to come online before deciding it can't find the boot CD. An additional 10-15 second wait immediately prior to the search would fix it.
