Hello Tom, Just to recap: I wanted to do "clean and fresh" installation without taking any knowledge/files from my previous install(s) and I wanted to test the documentation as I went along.
So, let's start at http://doc.astlinux.org/userdoc:dahdi After having read the section between the yellow mark-ups: "Please read this next step very carefully:" several times through I came to the conclusion that if I have a /mnt/kd/rc.conf.d directory then I have to edit /mnt/kd/rc.conf.d/user.conf So, I put DAHDIMODS=wctdm into an otherwise empty file. Now it looks like this: ### user.conf - start ### ### ### Advanced Configuration: User System Variables ### ### Define variables here that are not otherwise set in the Network tab. ### ### Variables defined here will override any value set elsewhere. ### ### DAHDIMODS=wctdm ### user.conf - end ### This is good because after a reboot the led on the (only) fxo card on the TDM400P is on. Now I have to understand what - "Create a system.conf file in /mnt/kd/dahdi. This will be used after rebooting." and "Create or edit a chan_dahdi.conf file in /mnt/kd/asterisk/" mean. I didn't have a /mnt/kd/dahdi/system.conf so I created one and put the following on the first line: #/mnt/kd/dahdi/system.conf However, quite how this "will be used after rebooting" is unclear. Of course if you know what it says on http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/DAHDI that "/etc/zaptel.conf Becomes /etc/dahdi/system.conf" and you just happen to have another running system to grab it from then you're OK but that wasn't what I was trying to do. So, the documentation is in need here. And without sorting that out there's not much point is asking just exactly how a complete beginner should edit /mnt/kd/asterisk/chan_dahdi.conf - which at least exists. SO, perhaps you could have a look at your config files Tom and I'll have a look at mine and I'll create an example for a TDM400P install with at least one FXO and one FXS so that the userdoc can be updated.
