Hi Ionel,

I just tested a net6501 (Atom based) and 1.0-beta seems to work fine, though we 
have been making some tweaks so later then 1.0-svn-5224 would be better.

If your box can boot off a USB flash drive, simply "dd" the 
1.0-svn-5224-xxx.img file to a good quality USB flash drive and boot directly 
from it.  Configure as usual:

http://doc.astlinux.org/userdoc:new-install

If there is a problem, reboot and disconnect the USB flash drive.

I would not use a hard disk, there are many flash options such that our .img 
file can be dd'ed to it.  For the net6501 I used a mSATA SSD and created it 
from a .img file using an adapter card for the mSATA to a SATA -> USB dock.  
Additionally there are SATA flash modules, CF -> SATA adapters, etc. that can 
be used instead of a hard drive.
