I used to use the Asterisk-GUI, but while it is good to get started, it
does not lend itself to sophisticated dialplans. So I have stopped using
it and my dialplans and conf files are now probably completely incompatible
with it. It also is clearly not getting much attention from Digium.
There are far better GUI's out there for configuring asterisk. The real
question is whether Astlinux aspires to have a fully fledged GUI-based
Asterisk setup/configuration tool, something like FreePBX. One might argue
that Astlinux is at a competitive disadvantage by not having a robust GUI
for Asterisk.
