Another idea: since one of the last few versions of Asterisk, there is a new 
option in asterisk.conf where you set the minimum DTMF duration:

;mindtmfduration = 80           ; Set minimum DTMF duration in ms (default 80 
ms)
                                ; If we get shorter DTMF messages, these will be
                                ; changed to the minimum duration


Maybe you can try to lower the value.
