Hi everyone, I'd like to get involved with you all in getting IRAF into a package. I would say I can't believe NOAO would do something as wrong as not using source control, but after looking at various scientific software I can't say I'm surprised. :(
Anyway, I had a thought. What if we downloaded the source every time they release something, run a diff on it, then update the copy in Joseph's repository? The Mac people have put together a package so they must know how to do it, but it's kinda scary - executable code in people's home directories, etc. Oh, and if the IRAF team is getting funding for development maybe the funding authority should know what they're not doing.
