In late January the moblind.org website was added to the mail-abuse.org
blacklist. It is one of many spam blacklists. Comcast and Road Runner
filter their email using the mail-abuse.org blacklist and started bouncing
our emails. In other words, all mail sent from moblind.org to Comcast and
Road Runner customers were being blocked. We immediately began working
with the blacklist administrators to get us removed from the lists. Then
on February first AT&T also began bouncing our emails. It appears today,
February 6, 2011, that we have been removed from the blacklist and all
mail traffic is getting through. So this afternoon I re-subscribed all
moblind.org mailing list users that were affected. To get us removed from
the blacklist it took the effort of six people working over two weeks to
meet the requirements of the blacklist administrators. To avoid this from
happening again, we are considering changing the mailing list software we
currently use, as it was one of the major criticisms of the blacklist
administrators. The software we use is called MailMan. It is one of the
most widely used mailing list software programs in the world and therefore
one of the most highly targeted programs by hackers and spammers. I
apologize for any problems the mailing list outage has caused. Best
Regards, Beau Barnhart.
