Newswire:
The title of his book, Breaking Barriers: Working And Loving While Blind,
defines precisely what our guest on Wednesday’s: Books And Beyond has spent
his life fulfilling.

Peter Altschul has much to impart to us about his life. At an early age, he
learned about guide dogs and couldn’t wait for the day when he would have one.
Altschul is an accomplished musician with experience playing jazz and a
Master’s in Music Composition from the New England Conservatory of Music.

Always, Peter knew accomplishment was not something he should keep to himself.
. Successful in a number of different jobs, Peter Altschul has always lived by
the philosophy that it is as important to empower others as it is to help
yourself. With that in mind, his life work has often been about doing all he
can to improve the lives and choices available to people with disabilities.
After receiving a degree in social work, he worked with employers to make
jobs available to those with disabilities on a local level.

How did he keep going when times were tough? What importance did family play in
both his early life and now as the successful adult he has become?

Along the way, five guide dogs shared his life. What rewards and challenges did
each bring? In uncertain economic times, is he optimistic about jobs? How can
we make ourselves more appealing to potential employers?

Peter Altschul exudes confidence. You will hear it in all he shares with us on
our next show.
