I don’t know what the steel plate is for as I don’t remember seeing one in
the box. There’s a place where the fm antenna screws in the back like rabbit
ears on a tv. The AM antenna just plugs in one of those jacks in the back. Did
you get an audio cd with yours? If not, I can upload it to dropbox and send you
a public link to it as I have the whole thing in my computer. Let me know if
you need it.

Subject: [Bulk] [ATI] Questions about the narrator

Since some of you have the Narrator, I have a few questions. What if anything
is the purpose of the large steel plate with the round circle in the middle of
it that is in the box. the manual makes no reference to it even being there. I
tried using the radio without any antennas plugged in and get almost nothing. A
couple of fm stations and none of the hd stations so I presume the antennas are
crucial to the operation. I know where they go in the back but I am not certain
which antenna is for fm and which for am or how to use them properly. Again,
nothing in the audio manual about them. Do you have to press something to go
from fm analog to fm hd mode? the manual mentions the modes but not how to
access them. John
  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
