Subject: [ATI] Notice of training on Voice Over with iOS devices.

Notice of Free training available to persons who are blind and want to learn
how to use Voice Over on their Apple iOS devices

  Hello,

  My name is Rita Howells.

Since I retired from State Services with the Illinois Bureau of Blind
services, I have begun to work with several blind adults in learning how to use
their devices with Voice Over. In the past 18 months, I have trained 10 blind
adults.

  I currently use:

an Apple iPhone 5, an iPhone 4 that is now used as an iPod, and an iPad II.

I have worked with the Apple Store at the St. Louis Galleria for two years
now in terms of us "learning together" how to use Voice Over on iOS devices.

In addition: I feel proud to have contributed to sending on accessibility
issues that we have found with Voice Over and Apple apps, which have gone to
the Accessibility Team in Apple's headquarters in Cupertino California.

I was recently asked to present at a "Communicating in a digital age"
workshop at Second Sense in Chicago Illinois: regarding my use of Apple iOS
devices with Voice Over.

I would be willing to offer my services in training blind adults who are
interested in learning how to use iOS devices.

Apple devices running iOS and Voice Over are truly a life changing technology
that have had a significant impact for people with visual disabilities.

I have been developing a "set up list" and curriculum for training with Voice
Over, and I can use these tools to assist blind persons in their desired goals
in how to use their iOS devices.

I would be willing to schedule to meet at a mutually convenient location,
within the St. Louis Metropolitan area. I live in Madison County Illinois
(which is about a 20 minute drive away from the St. Louis Arch) and we could
work out transportation arrangements in order for me to provide the training at
a location that is doable for me in regards to "the transportation hustle".

I will schedule the training sessions, on a "first come, first served" basis
and the session should last about 1 and one half hours, for each training
session.

  My contact information is:

  [email protected]

  All the best,

  Rita Howells M.S.Ed. CVRT
