Back before The digital books I recorded around 150 cassette books that way and other than the occasional bad tape it worked out pretty well.

There was also a lot of bleed through on the tracks. You could hear backward content underneath the one going forward. It could have been that I was using inferior equipment, but those NLS tapes are recorded at half speed anyway so there isn't a lot of highs to give up to start with.
