I will chime in and say this is going to be the biggest and most exciting
PowerUp conference ever. I have been away for sometime so I could be wrong,
but I think it is the first time they have been in this space, and it's an
unparalleled opportunity to network with the most highly trained people
available from across the country and see a range of new technology in the
biggest gathering of it's kind in our region. So please attend if you
possibly can. Even if it's just for one day. You don't want to miss this.

Subject: Re: [ATI] Power Up to The Summit 2016
Hello! I've already corresponded with Reggie, but just wanted to follow up
on the list to clarify one of his statements. We have an excellent line-up
of Presenters and sessions and exhibitors at Power Up to The Summit this
year, with several sessions specifically geared toward blind and low vision
topics! So in response to Reg's statement, "I do find it disappointing that
there is not a full dedicated session on Android accessibility for blind and
visually impaired users. Maybe they didn't feel they had anyone who was
prepared to create such a session."
Power Up has had a session on Android accessibility in the past because we
thought it was a great idea and didn't want to just promote and provide
training on iOS devices. However, only a handful of people attended that
Android session. And not a single person has requested an Android
accessibility session for two years, other than educators who want info on
Chrome and Android, and so we have a session on that this year (smile). We
also have in-house expertise as well as draw on national expertise for very
well qualified Presenters. And by the way, Reggie is one of those
Presenters this year (smile).
Every year, we ask for feedback from Power Up attendees and we truly use
this information for developing future sessions. If anyone has questions,
please feel free to contact our office directly, thanks!

Here is the link to the 2016 PowerUp conference sessions and schedule. The
link for each session takes you to a description for that session and
information on the presenters, or if you just scroll down past the entire
list of sessions the descriptions are on the same page. There will be a key
note and endnote speaker, and the governor's disability luncheon is included
at the end of the conference. From the main conference site there are links
to view information on the agenda and keynote & endnote speakers, as well as
the list of exhibitors that will be participating. I do find it
disappointing that there is not a full dedicated session on Android
accessibility for blind and visually impaired users. Maybe they didn?t feel
they had anyone who was prepared to create such a session. I know Steve and
Ruthie could have done it easily.

Amy, it's basically what you said. It's a conference that deals with all
kinds of assistive technology...not just blindness related, but devices,
software, and other technology for all disabilities. I have no idea of the
schedule-they have as yet to publish it, as far as I know.
