Phil and John P.,  thanks for the additional info.  Per Axel's instructions,
I found that if I entered 'smart priority --set <OOo package name> rpm-db
1000' for each individual package that smart wanted to "upgrade" it solved
the problem.  Couldn't figure out how or if it could be wild-carded, but
that's not an issue now that I've entered them all in.
