OK, I found the issue. It was t he new RHEL 5.3 rpm segfaulting on rpm
-qp --qf '%{buildtime}' when used on a specfile. Unfortunately it only
segfaulted at el5/hibernate and not right away, so it was hard to
spot. That rpm was installed on "Sun 01 Feb 2009 11:49:32 PM CET", so
any website re-creating after that was failing. This coincides nicely
with David's original report 4 days later.

At any rate I changed the scripts to use ls for querying the
"buildtime" for specfiles and the currently running script seems to
work properly!

Give it another hour or so and the web site bits should be restored to
the working state. :)

The yum repos were not affected by this, only web browsing/googling
was broken.
