So I learned the hard way , after I did a "yum upgrade" which brought a new kernal in and
a new Nvidia release my boot to Xorg broke.
So I had to remove the previous version and reboot to get the Nvidia driver to
load.
Also I had to remove a nvidia.conf.backup from the modprobe.d as it was putting out
warnings too about being ignored in future releases, so presumably it was loading this
file now?
anyway this is a FYI for other users upgrading etc...
