It's now Dec 2 per UTC, so the feature freeze is on. I thought the Feature Freeze term was all clear, but apparently some people did not understand: This is *strictly* about adding major new features to the code. This is *not* the GUI/string freeze that begins the release process.
We have done feature freezes in the past. Some have, by necessity, spanned multiple versions, because we had so many bugs that needed fixing, that new features would have impeded progress in fixing them. As stated previously, we have had *so* many new, major changes in the past few months, we want about 6 weeks of testing before starting the release process. So, I'd like to ask QA and the developers who've contributed so much to post lists of what needs testing, generally and specifically. I will consolidate those and post a new Release Agenda spreadsheet. (And probably make Feature Freeze an explicit step. I hope we have enough contributions going forward, that we'll have so much to test that we need to do a Feature Freeze for each development cycle, as with this one.)
