I believe the knight hit sound that comes up occasionally is a crytical hit, which explains why it comes up with footman, though to be honest I've not payed attention to battle sounds all that closely and usually skip them.

On my iphone screen since it is so small all I can see really are different coloured things running around at random, and listening to the sounds of battle with no context to what is happening is not really my interest.
