I actually don't care much for the knight as a tank. I use the champion some, but I use the footman a lot. I think he goes under the radar, because he is the first hero you get, but I have lots of luck using him. I also see people using two champions a lot, which I think is odd, because from what I understand, the bonuses they give don't stack. So it seems more logical to use a different warrior, to provide a different bonus, if you need to go the two melee route.
