I'm glad to see it booted, but that still sounds pretty terrible. Windows isn't exactly known for dealing with hardware changes well. And the mouse pointer thing is somewhat to be expected because you need the VirtualBox "Guest additions".
If you can, get into safe mode and remove the VMWare tools, then install the additions. No promises, but a repair if that still doesn't help is about all I can suggest after that.
