re: 30, I think that "family" is being used in a less literal sense. I'm pretty sure Angel isn't actually related to any of the Maller types, rather they inhabited the same world as Angel grew up, one which he apparently left behind when he joined up. I don't have any textual support, other than an absence of specific mention of relation and the sense that Scratch is referring to a sub-culture rather than an actual family.
