[[wow]], I never realized in America national services could be shut down just because one party throws a hissythit, that seems pretty loopy to me, not to say a little childish.

then again I confess I'm always a little confused about why in American politics there is this weerd thing about not separating into government departments or ministeries, and why for instance the government can be voting on one law when suddenly another law is tacked straight on to it, that always seems very crazy to me.
Of course, this isn't to say that the British government is any lesss prone to rangling or disagreements, indeed with our current coalition government those are pretty common especially in the recession which the government insists isn't a recession .
Usually if British services stop it's due to strikes, heck it looks like we're about to have a royal mail strike on our hands, though since the labour party is once again! threatening to privatize a national service I can't really blaime mail for doing that.
Actually thinking about library services if royal mail is! privatised I am willing to bet the free articles for the blind posting will be done away with, since a private company won't be half that nice, which will be bad news for people recieving books from the Rnib, and pretty disasterous for anyone getting books from the national braille library, (since I dread to think what the postage costs on braille books would be).
Getting back to library of congress, it seems a little strange that even their web service gets shut down, since manifestly that runs all the time. Is there a reason for this or is it just part of the republican party being grumpy? .
