Re: Inclusive gaming from a blindness perspective

@Sebby, another fact to considder is frankly with a lot of indi devs it's not just a matter of prophet or risk, but that your actually dealing with the creator of the game who has put time, energy and effort into their work and, even if they are trying to make money still wants people to play their game and enjoy it.

It's actually quite impressed me how many indi devs I've dealt with over the years have been really nice about access, ---- not all, but certainly a significant majority.

With the fat cat coorporations though many games don't even have! a single creator or small group of designers anymore, indeed far too many games these days are designed in board rooms specifically to appeal to the widest cross section of the market.

I tend to think of it this way. Lets say you were allergic to some very common thing that not many others were allergic to, ---- like wheat flour . Well, your far more likely to get a single chef in your local res taurant to bake you a cake you can eat than persuade someone like mcdonalds to start serving an alternative for you, since even if you could! get to speak to whoever is in control of what mcdonalds put in their food, they're unlikely to go to the expense of providing an alternative flour just for you and the comparatively miner group of people with the same alergy as you.

Of course this isn't to say Sander and Richard's efforts to go to various conferences on gaming and poke such companies shouldn't be done, but myself I only ever see access coming through indi devs, and even then, only through the smaller sort where it is possible to speak to people who both matter, and care about what they're doing, (just look at how successful we've been trying to contact larger companies like storm8 or the makers of haypy monster).
