One reason why I spent the $99 for KNFB Reader is because I learned that many of the cheap or free OCR apps don't do the OCR recognition on your device. Instead the picture of the page you are trying to process is sent to a server where the OCR recognition is performed, then the resulting text is sent back to you.
If that's the case, I'd be very nervous about what I use the OCR app on. That the OCR is done on somebody's server opens up some serious privacy and security concerns.
