I'm interested in your reasoning behind your previous post. Fully autonomous cars would eliminate the need for user interference upon maneuvering whatever vehicle it is. It isn't a matter of blind people as a particular group that is blocked by legislation to not use a car (it also is not illegal for a blind person to own a car, mind you), but it is because of the circumstances blind people are faced with that they simply cannot drive them. Just like any other person who cannot drive isn't prohibited from using a car, neither is a blind person. I wanted to make that clear.
Secondly, Self-driving cars will eventually be mainstreamed and make traditional cars a thing of the past, as you said. But why would that matter if you claim blind people wouldn't have the "right" to access them anyways? Availability isn't the problem, nor is legislation banning blind people. The problem is the
visual component, and that's about it. Traditional cars (as far as the U.S. is concerned) will eventually be illegal to use and most likely own. That is projected to happen by 2030 according to certain websites, but that's not exactly soon.
When this technology does become available to the public, it will utterly revolutionize driving and mobility in general. This isn't just a matter of a new type of car -- this will change a big part of everyday lives.
