When you log in the first time, a char will be created for you automatically. There are two ways to changing its name:
1: go into the console and type name yourname this is only a temporary sollution.
2: If you want to change it permanently go into the audioquake folder, id1, config.cfg. Open that with notepad, and go to the final line. Remove the player de plastique thing, and change it to the name you want.
Unfortunately its not possible to have nvda read quake's interface to you. If you want to use a different voice for quake, first get espeak. Just search for it on google, and download the setup file. It sounds very robotic but its one of the better sapi voices out there. Next, if you are using a 32 bit system do the following:
go to C:\Windows\System32\speech\speechUx\sapi.cpl. In the combo box, change the voice to espeak en, then you can change the rate on the slider if you press tab a fiew times. Then hit okay to save the changes.
If you have
a 64 bit system, do the following:
go to C:\Windows\SysWow64\speech\speechUx\sapi.cpl. In the combo box, change the voice to espeak en, then you can change the rate on the slider if you press tab a fiew times. Then hit okay to save the changes.
