The most spoiler free way without reading a walkthrough to get through the Crypt portal area is to get to room 0 on floor 20. If you wan't directions, read on below.

I am going to walk you through the easiest way to type, starting from where you enter floor 19 from floor 18.
Move over one room west, then two rooms north. This will portal you to floor 20. Move one room west, portaling you to a different room on floor 20. Then move 3 or 4 rooms west and portal once again. You should now be standing in room 20 floor 20. Now move north until you portal again in room 0. The directions from here go Norrth, west, north and then west. Search the room to get a key. A note though that there are spawn points along the way. Go south from the room you found the key to get back out to the entrance the quickest.
