Sswwaaiikkee give this a try. Open your progress.ini file and change the first number to either 2 or 3. 2 will be for window eyes and 3 is for Jaws. Maybe Sapi is what is causing the game to crash, and if you change that number you can change the screen reader settings without actually needing to launch the game.
