accessible two-way radios?

so, I've had this obsession with walkie talkies/two-way radios, whatever you want to call them since I was like 6, and I've finally decided to spend $40 on a pair, even though I don't really have anyone to use them with currently.  I was looking at a page on the sendero site about different tools for blind and visually impaired individuals, and the set of radios I bought was mentioned here.  has anyone ever played with the Motorola talkabout series of radios?  If so, how accessible are they?  If any of you love playing with these things, I suppose this is the topic for that too.  Are there any hams on this forum?
