Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta39)

@dd, I agree, though I'd prefer to know how many minigames were in each world than the total in the game, that way there is still mystery about how large the game is in general, but you would know how many games in each world to unlock,, eg, when looking on the world choice menu be told "valley, 5 victories, 2 defeats,  3 out of 7 minigames unlocked"
About the valves, you need to press the arrows like in bsc's old pipe game while holding enter. Generally one revolution of clockwise presses eg, up right down left will gie you a squeak, the higher the squeak gets the more the valve is turning. It's easy when you get the knack.

@Kara, as to the points. In most games you start off at minus 20 points and get better, this is for the various games where you gain score such as harvesting plumbs or hunting ants. In games where you need to move right to left like the cave full of pits game, you earn points according to how far along you get (one reas on why going back to the start is bad), while in some like peaceful mountain you get points by how far up you go, and in some like the hunting ants game you get points according to how long you survive, check points with s, (though s only works in some games).  Generally if your score isn't going up high enough your probably moving too slowly, since you really need to get a move on in many games to get a high score, indeed in the underwater bubble games that is likely part of the problem.

Well as far as adventure mode goes I actually like how it works currently without saving in the world map. I did originally consider whether to suggest replaying games when you've beaten or unlocked them in adventure mode, but I can actually see the reason why not, after all then you could spam easy games like chase the duck for score, especially the bonus ones.

I also don't think continuous wall sounds would work,  both because thesound scape in the game is rather rich anyway and you need to listen out for so much, and as Aaron said because it'd make the game too easy. I would however like a key to check your coordinates, both in top down minigames and on the world map in adventure mode.

For the rewards system I'd actually like to see a fare few changes. Gems are stil! really hard to come by and coins and experience are useless, and at the moment there isn't really much point spending gems to play minigames once unlocked since you don't get anything for it.

I like gems being used to unlock boards, but it'd be nice if gems unlocked other things, for example random opponents in the battle, casino style minigames to bet your coins, or addons to each board to make gameplay more interesting, for example perhaps gems could be used to buy different sizes of dice so you could roll different amounts in the boards, or different playing peaces with different abilities for the board games, eg, there could be a thief piece which got double the coins but could only move half the number of squares shown on the dice (I wonder where I got this idea from), or a miser peace that only lost one coin on red squares but only gained one on blue, or a tax collector peace which instead of gaining coins on blue squares, took the coins your opponent got on red ones.

There could also be different traps or conditions to buy for boards, for example buying an exchange trap which was placed randomly on the board and when you or an opponent land on it you exchange coins with another peace, or buying miss turn squares.

There could even potentially be board based minigames in the future which had to be purchiced with gems too. This could make the board mode rather interesting since you'd never know who'd purchiced what or what would come up, especially if your opponent was using different peaces to alter the odds slightly.

I'd also love to see achievements or t rophies or something like that in the game, indeed if each minigame had a certain trophy or achievement say for playing it several times or getting a specific score that would mean replaying had a point to it,  trophies could also be given for beating gyms, beating random opponents in battle or collecting cards, though I'd imagine adding those would be rather difficult.

I don't know if these ideas will make it into the game, but hopefully if PPragma sees this it will give some thoughts since there are potentially many ways this game could be expanded.

Btw, as to adding custom things, my problem is that the design in this game is just so good, I'd not want to risk the balance getting shattered say if someone added a custom card that did uba damage. I could imagine customizations being used for aesthetic purposes, eg, changing names on battle cards, building different boards from stock squares and elements, (especially if the ability to add more text was added, imagine a starwars or harry potter themed board).

But I'm not sure how much creation should be in the player's hands mod wise, especially given the extremely high quality in design of so many minigames, indeed as I've said before, Crazy party really does restore my faith in the idea that there is more to say as far as audio arcade games go.
