Re: Dictation software, can we blind user use it without scripts/addons?

We are not really sure too much about the specifics of Dictation Bridge at the moment. However, we can assume that it will accept regular commands and voice input that you would use with Windows Speech Recognition and Dragon. It will also support screen-reader specific commands for reviewing and reading text. The reason that you would want to use Dictation Bridge or either of the products from Hartgen Consultancy is that, as a blind user, you need to be able to read the text that is displayed on your computer screen, and to hear back the text that you have dictated so you can see if it has been understood correctly. Hartgen Consultancy also puts other utilities into their dictation products that they feel are more beneficial to the needs of blind customers than the ones that Nuance put into Dragon. These utilities include such things as more convenient ways of searching the Internet and more convenient methods for manipulating text which are more accessible to the needs of blind v oice recognition users.
