Perhaps an optional, in-ap quest that could somehow be relevent to a product, like a crossover with another game from the same company, somehow merging the same universes for a brief encounter. If it's not a game though, I'm not really too sure. Chipatel Labs is an interesting one. In Zombies Run you could collect items which are basically apps "before the time of the apocalypse" and these revealed a story of a secret organisation of Ninjas, relating to Chipatel Lab's upcoming ninja game at the time.
