Re: Getting Started with Manamon: The First Two Stadiums

It seems that you have to put a lot of points into each stat, before you notice any enhancement.

Some clarification on what training points actually do:
Training points influence how much a manamon's stats will increase over the course of it's growth. A mon who has been trained in the strength stat will receive more strength when it levels up than the same mon without the training. I don't know the math involved, but there's some formula which takes the points in to account when determining how much of a given stat a mon should have at a given level. This is why training stats on lower leveled mons (as would be the case in these early parts of the game) seem to provide little upfront benefit. This can be seen if you catch a higher leveled mon and invest a few points in to a stat. You will see the stat increase much more than if you had invested the same number of points on the same mon say 30 levels lower.
So don't get discouraged when you invest 10 points in a stat before the first stadium and see the stat increase by 1 (or 0). You haven't wasted your points nor your time, but you'll have a better mon overall when you get further.
Also, if you've used a mon before and remember it's moveset it can help you decide which stats to invest in and which stats to neglect. The best example is magic attack: if a mon learns no special attacks, there's absolutely no reason to invest in magic attack.
There are more advanced examples when getting in to teambuilding for pvp battles; for instance, a fast hard hitting mon with poor defenses will never be a defensive tank no matter how many points you invest in defenses so you might as well invest in attack and speed since the mon won't be able to take a hit anyway.
