I think there is a fine line here. When it comes to mainstream games I don't know why more developers don't sell their soundtracks, if this happened the players wouldn't have to keep on breaking encryption or looking for soundtrack rips.
On the audiogaming front, encryption is really important as both the music and sounds are usually in the same folder and from what I've heard, when stuff gets decrypted all of it gets extracted. The trouble is, a lot of the sounds are from libraries and such, which are very expensive.
