Accuracy modifiers are another of this game's flaws. A lot of moves are quite frankly too inaccurate. There's no reason, for instance, that Sparking Tail should be 90% accurate while its special counterpart, Superspark, has no drawbacks. Ditto Drench vs. Torch.
I'm not saying every move should be perfectly accurate, but for heaven's sake. Missing just makes the battle longer and makes the game more stupidly luck-based. This is an area where mostly pokemon got it right. Every single type should eventually have moves that are reliable, at low power and at high power. And by reliable, I mean 100% accurate without modifiers. If you get hit by Sandy Wind or Mud Ball a bunch of times, then yeah you're gonna miss here and there. Fine. But I should, on basically any manamon, have the ability to use a comparatively strong move (say 70-75 power or above) with 100 accuracy and a complementary type in order to deal damage. This 50-power fighting move crap on the Palador line, or the no-good-moves syndrome poor Monja deals with, is just mind-blowing. And let's not forget that I'm pretty sure even Rookie Kick, which is 50 power, can freaking miss!
Word to the wise: even if a move has an extra effect, it doesn't need an accuracy penalty, or any other penalty. Charge Tackle...10 power, 90 accuracy, has a chance (not a guarantee) to raise the user's attack stat. Or, I could, in a better designed metagame, just use a 100% attack-up move like Sharpen or even Hone Blades, right? Right. That's just one example. There are dozens.
