It's entirely possible that the technical definition was established, then promptly ignored by the rest of the internet, and Wikipedia simply hasn't caught up.
What you described sounds more like what I would call a Virtual Series (which I got from Monster Zero Productions, if I remember right), but in that case, it'd just be the script without the video. :-/
