Changing the time zone in Ubuntu using the CLI

Hi folks,

I've tried two commands to change to my current time zone, adjusting the local time on my VPS.  I want to change to the time zone most closely related to America/New York, and upon returning the command timedatectl list-timezones, it is an option, but I'm not sure how to switch to it.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

This presents a menu where I select EST5EDT.  It yields a change in the time being an hour behind me.

sudo timedatectl set-timezone EDT

This yields the same result.

Any help to figure this out would be greatly appreciated.

Luke
