If your dm is going into one of the channels of your mixer, I would turn it down that channel and listen through headphones on the dm through the monitor for recording... that should help some. The mic quality on the dm series is usually very good... it only clips when something is too loud, which in this case would be your mixer's output. But if you turn down the output for that channel then it should be better without affecting your gig.
