I know, if I knew all the ins and outs of the IMAP protocol I'd take a stab at fixing the GMail Backup program myself since the source code is available, and the problem causing it to not work any more is a problem with a search parameter.
I suspect that the needed fix wouldn't require a lot of code changes, it just need someone with a deep knowledge of IMAP to do it.
